Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 19, 2026
ContentMK is built by Frog Stone Media. We designed ContentMK as a desktop-first application specifically so your content data stays under your control. This policy explains what data we collect, what stays on your machine, and what we do with the information that does reach us.
The Short Version
- Your content data is stored locally on your computer by default
- We do not collect telemetry or usage analytics unless you opt in
- No cloud account is required to use the core features of ContentMK
- WordPress passwords are encrypted using Electron safeStorage on your machine
- Cloud Sync is an optional paid module — your data is not uploaded without your choice
- You can export your data at any time, regardless of subscription status
Data That Stays on Your Machine
ContentMK is a desktop application. The following data is stored locally and never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly enable Cloud Sync:
- Your content projects, articles, and editorial calendars
- Keyword research data and tracking history
- WordPress site credentials (encrypted with Electron safeStorage)
- Application preferences and workspace settings
- Draft content and unpublished work
Data We Collect
Account Information
If you purchase a subscription, we collect the information needed to manage your license:
- Email address
- Name (if provided)
- Payment information (processed by our payment provider, not stored by us)
- License key and activation status
Optional Analytics
ContentMK includes opt-in analytics powered by PostHog. This is disabled by default. If you choose to enable it, we collect anonymous usage data to help us understand which features are used and where the app can improve. You can disable this at any time in Settings.
Cloud Sync Data
If you purchase and enable the Cloud Sync module, your content data is encrypted and stored on our servers to enable syncing across devices. You can disable Cloud Sync at any time, and your data remains available locally. You can also request deletion of your cloud-stored data.
Support and Communication
When you contact us for support or send us email, we collect the content of those communications to help resolve your issue.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Manage your software license and subscription
- Provide customer support
- Send important product updates (security patches, breaking changes)
- Improve the application based on opt-in analytics
- Process payments through our payment provider
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your content data for training AI models or any other purpose.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Payment processing: To handle subscriptions and billing. We do not store your payment card details.
- PostHog (opt-in only): Anonymous product analytics, disabled by default.
- Cloud Sync infrastructure: If you enable Cloud Sync, your encrypted data is stored on cloud infrastructure.
Data Export
You can export all of your content data at any time. This works regardless of your subscription status — even if your subscription has lapsed and you are in read-only mode, data export remains available. We believe your data is yours, and you should always be able to take it with you.
Data Security
Local data is protected by your operating system's file permissions and encryption. WordPress credentials are encrypted using Electron's safeStorage API, which uses your OS keychain. Cloud Sync data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We follow standard security practices, but no system is perfectly secure — we are transparent about that.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and export your data at any time
- Request deletion of your account and any cloud-stored data
- Opt out of analytics at any time
- Unsubscribe from non-essential emails
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Children's Privacy
ContentMK is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the application or by email.
