Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 20, 2026
ContentMK is built by Frog Stone Media ("we," "us," or "our"), located in Sacramento, California. We designed ContentMK as a desktop-first application specifically so your content data stays under your control. This policy explains what data we collect, what stays on your machine, and what we do with the information that does reach us.
This policy applies to the ContentMK desktop application and the contentmk.com website.
The Short Version

- We do not collect telemetry or usage analytics from the desktop app unless you opt in
- No cloud account is required to use the core features of ContentMK
- WordPress passwords are encrypted using Electron safeStorage on your machine

- You can export your data at any time, regardless of subscription status
- We do not sell your personal information
Data That Stays on Your Machine
ContentMK is a desktop application. The following data is stored locally and never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly enable Cloud Sync:
- Your content projects, articles, and editorial calendars
- Keyword research data and tracking history
- WordPress site credentials (encrypted with Electron safeStorage)
- Application preferences and workspace settings
- Draft content and unpublished work
Data We Collect
Website Analytics
The contentmk.com website uses Google Analytics (Google LLC) to understand how visitors find and use our website. Google Analytics collects:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website or search terms that brought you here
- General geographic location (city/region level, not precise location)
- Browser type, device type, and screen resolution
- IP address (anonymized by Google Analytics)
Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by disabling cookies in your browser settings.
Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to monitor how contentmk.com appears in Google Search results. Search Console provides us with:
- Search queries that lead visitors to our website
- Click-through rates and average position in search results
- Crawl errors and indexing status of our pages
This data is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors. Search Console data is provided by Google and is subject to Google's privacy policy.
Account and Payment Information
If you purchase a subscription, we collect the information needed to manage your license:
- Email address
- Name (if provided)
- License key and activation status
Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. When you make a purchase, Stripe collects your payment card number, expiration date, CVC, and billing address directly. We do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe provides us with a truncated card number (last 4 digits), card brand, expiration date, and billing address for receipt and support purposes. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
Optional Desktop App Analytics
ContentMK includes opt-in analytics powered by PostHog. This is disabled by default. If you choose to enable it, we collect anonymous usage data to help us understand which features are used and where the app can improve. You can disable this at any time in Settings.
Cloud Sync Data
If you purchase and enable the Cloud Sync module, your content data is encrypted and stored on our servers to enable syncing across devices. You can disable Cloud Sync at any time, and your data remains available locally. You can also request deletion of your cloud-stored data.
Support and Communication
When you contact us for support or send us email, we collect the content of those communications to help resolve your issue.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Manage your software license and subscription
- Provide customer support
- Send important product updates (security patches, breaking changes)
- Improve the application based on opt-in analytics
- Understand how visitors use our website to improve it
- Process payments through our payment provider
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your content data for training AI models or any other purpose.
Cookies
The contentmk.com website uses the following cookies:
- Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) — Used to distinguish unique visitors and track website usage. These expire after 2 years and 24 hours respectively.
The ContentMK desktop application does not use tracking cookies.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics (website only): Website traffic analysis. Data is processed by Google LLC. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Search Console (website only): Search performance monitoring. Aggregated data only, no individual visitor identification. See Google's privacy policy.
- Stripe (payment processing): Handles all subscription billing and payment card processing. We do not store your full card number. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- PostHog (desktop app, opt-in only): Anonymous product analytics, disabled by default.
- Cloud Sync infrastructure: If you enable Cloud Sync, your encrypted data is stored on cloud infrastructure.
Data Export
You can export all of your content data at any time in JSON, CSV, PDF, or HTML format. This works regardless of your subscription status — even if your subscription has lapsed and you are in read-only mode, data export remains available. Your data is yours, and you should always be able to take it with you.
Data Security
Local data is protected by your operating system's file permissions and encryption. WordPress credentials are encrypted using Electron's safeStorage API, which uses your OS keychain. Cloud Sync data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). We follow standard security practices, but no system is perfectly secure — we are transparent about that.
Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within 45 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
Your Rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Access and export your data at any time
- Request deletion of your account and any cloud-stored data
- Opt out of analytics at any time
- Opt out of Google Analytics via browser settings or the opt-out add-on
- Unsubscribe from non-essential emails
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. We have not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months.
We share website usage data with Google Analytics for the purpose of understanding website traffic. Under the CCPA/CPRA, this may be considered "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of this sharing by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, by sending a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal through your browser, or by contacting us directly.

- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights. We will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your privacy rights.

To submit a request to know, delete, or correct your personal information, contact us at:
- Email: [email protected]
We will verify your identity before processing your request by matching the information you provide with information we already have on file. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days. If we need more time (up to an additional 45 days), we will notify you in writing.
You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. If you use an authorized agent, we may require proof that you have authorized the agent to act on your behalf and may still ask you to verify your identity directly.
Do Not Track
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not currently respond to other "Do Not Track" browser signals, as there is no industry-standard protocol for these signals at this time.
Children's Privacy
ContentMK is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
